It is in one of Orthodox churches. Isn’t it?
The stole says so. But it could easily be in an Eastern Catholic Church. I think Orthodox churches strictly immerse people for baptism.
No, full immersion isn’t necessary (although some priests do). The main requirements are that water needs to be poured (not sprinkled) and the whole head needs to be wetted. I’ve been to two Orthodox baptisms – one adult and one child – and they were both baptised this way. The man stood in a paddling pool, and he was about a foot taller than the priest. That one was fun!
My dad’s a deacon in the Catholic church and baptisms a lot of children. I’ve got to share this photo with him. That kid surely felt the infusion of the Triniy in his little soul!
