(CNS) – The Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which started July 20 in many countries, is a time of fasting, prayer and repentance, when Muslims distance themselves from worldly activities in an effort to align their lives more closely with God and his laws.

Where’s the part about ‘convert or die’? Does this mean the suspension of attacks against Christians and Jews for this ‘holy month’?
Let’s see how many churches are bombed by The Religion of Peace. Let’s see how many Copts, Maronites, Chaldeans, Assyrians and Melkites they apply their “Peace” to.
I have a difficult time saying a daily rosary, so I really admire the daily prayer throughout the year and the extra sacrifices of Ramadan. John Paul II wrote about this respect to Islam in “Crossing the Threshold of Hope.” Just as we dislike it when all Catholics are linked to sex-abuse scandals, we should respect that all Muslim people are not like the extreme elements. I am using this time to build the study of my faith and to remember to be prayerful in my daily tasks.
