Which side is Catholic
Subjectively speaking, they’re both right. Of course, they’re both chickens, and so they have no souls. They are destined to be delicious food digesting in my belly.
Actually, I think it was St. Thomas Aquinas who said ‘animals do have mortal souls’. In truth they are ‘sentient beings’ and created by God for HIS good pleasure – the pure, unadulterated Love of HIS Creation.! Unfortunately ( that is to say because of original sin), mankind has dominated and misused the animals…for our good pleasure.
However, this cartoon is not about chickens at all, but rather the ‘ineptitude of human reasoning’. Animals fulfill their potiential by just ‘being’ who God made them to be, but what does that say about Humankind…made in God’s Image and Likeness…?!
Love it.
It is human to be humorous; it is quintessentially English (and Anglican) to be self-depricating in one’s expression of humor. Thank you, Fr. Smuts.
