KFC In Lebanon Burned In Anger Over Pope Visit

What does the Pope have to do with Col Sanders?!

Hundreds of protesters  set alight a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli on Friday, witnesses said, chanting  against the pope’s visit to Lebanon and shouting anti-American  slogans.

Locals watching the attack said some people were shouting,  “We don’t want the pope” and “No more insults (to Islam)”.

The incident came as Pope Benedict began a three-day visit  to Lebanon and as anger over a film which Muslims have said is  blasphemous to Islam spread across the region.

Not related, but the Newspage of the Australian ordinariate has been updated: http://ordinariate.org.au/news/

    + PAX et BONUM

  2. Surely the pope will always represent somewhat the Western Culture! And this so-called flim is just a flash-point being used by Radical Islam! This is both a religious and cultural/ideological battle and war! How about the great insults to Judaism and Christianity?

  3. Ioannes says:

I am glad that my Pope is Pope Benedict XVI; he has the courage to actually go to Lebanon, not only while Syria next door is in turmoil, but amidst the unexpected riots of the Muslim rabble.

Would anyone of us dare go to those areas right now?

    • I give him credit here certainly, but he is guarded by a small personal army!

      • Ioannes says:

Well, nothing can be done about him being a head of state and the Lebanese government treating him as such. But were he just a low-level priest, he surely would not abandon his flock no matter what. (I think some Syrian and Iraqi priests prove this.)

  4. Charles A. Coulombe says:

He proved his personal bravery, both during World War II and 1968; but I can think of what they should have in Tripoli, if they don’t want him!
