Ordain a Lady

Over at First Thoughts:
If,” as Catholic blogger Marc Barnes wrote, “in the course of human events, a cringe-inducing karaoke of an already over-played pop song is your primary response to the philosophical tradition of the Holy Catholic Church, you’ve negated yourself long, long before you’ve been rebutted.” He is talking about the hysterically funny video produced by the Women’s Ordination Conference titled Ordain a Lady.
Comment is superfluous, except to note the lines about ignoring St. Paul, “other churches” that do ordain women, the pope being “in my way,” and “God called me . . . That’s a fact.” What you have left is pretty much the Episcopal Church and we know how well it’s doing. The video has already gladdened the heart of many an obedient Catholic.
No, it isn’t a satire. I assure you.

Why aren’t these people being excommunicated??
They are, latae sententiae, meaning that by those acts they excommunicate themselves without the Vatican (don’t remember if it’s the CDF or the Apostolic Penitentary that deals with that) having to do anything. Bishop Levebvre was excommunicated the same way, by the sole virtue of consecrating Bishops without a Papal mandate, but as he was high-profile, Rome issued a formal document to clarify things.

Don, you are absolutely right. In thinking further, I have the bad feeling that these people can still attend their local parishes, or teach in their local Catholic schools, and so on, with no repercussions. Maybe I am wrong and they have indeed been removed from these positions or places until they make the required public and penitential action. But I see it so often. Local parish “divorce” groups encouraging married persons to date other people, and so on.
And Lefebvre. Oh how I feel for his followers. In the first place, to consecrate a Bishop without a Papal mandate means that those Bishops are not Catholic. No matter how “traditional” they may look, they have no jurisdiction, no way to get it, and are not part of the Catholic Church. It’s a dress-up game is all. And in the second place, since it now turns out that Lefevbre excommunicated himself even earlier (with his own schemings against the Church with Lienart and his invalid ordination to the priesthood), those poor SSPX/SSPV/SSPX-SO/MHFM followers of Lefebvre’s clerics are outside the Church in every which way. What a mess.
its nice to see appalled albs.
Oh dear, I do hope everyone one got the joke before people start demanding that I be burnt!
Apparently St Thomas Episcopal Church in Washington welcomed the performers to use their grounds for filming this bit of camp: it’s very ecumenical of them! Correspondingly, we Catholics ought to be generous toward ACNA when we have an idle building here or there.
too pathetic to scandalize and too ludicrous to take seriously – like a clown-Mass!
These ‘radical clowns of renown’ would do well to go back and read the “The Story of a Soul” by St. Therese of Lisieux – now there’s a Lady! – who’s caliber of Sanctity is akin to oil in water when mixed-in with this crowd–”demanding” Ordination. In her expressed “desire” to be a Priest, Therese Affirms that IF it were ‘God’s Ordaining Will’ (not hers). And ONLY then–because of her ‘lofty Understanding’ what this Great and Noble calling was from God and the Ultimate closeness to Jesus Christ and the Ultimate means of bringing HIM to Souls! She had a ‘Missionary Heart’ and desired to travel the world to ‘save Souls for Christ’–thus her “desire” to accomplish this was allied with her “desire for the Priesthood”; NOT from any inadequacy of persecution or discrimination–for personal fulfillment or equality, but because she had the ‘Soul of a Lioness’…completely given-over to her “Lion of Judah”!
And her ‘Greatness’ was in her ‘Obedience, Service and Love’ to/for The Holy Catholic Church (something this group hasn’t even a clue about), NOT in defiance of it, nor did she seek her own Power but the Power of the ONE Who…”Ordained a Lady–to be a Saint” – in her own words: “to be LOVE in the Heart of the Church”!
