Tiny Blue Dot

The earth from space… Taken from the back side of Saturn, it puts things well into perspective.

Nat Geo has more unforgettable pictures of our planet from space here.

  1. WOW, we all fit on a ‘pinhead in the Universe’! Puts things well into perspective indeed!
A seemingly very insignificant and most unlikely place–for the ‘greatest Manifestation of God’…very much like Bethlehem itself–“Oh Bethlehem Ephrata…”. Makes me also think of Mary–the least & most humble ‘handmaid of the Lord’–in her pristine ‘Praise & Glory to God’, put forth in her Magnificat: “My Soul doth Magnify the Lord and my Spirit Rejoices in God my Savior…” – the sinless & ONLY response to this ‘cosmic Mystery’–for ALL Christians and the most perfect response of A Human Being!

  2. The New Testament account of her humility and obedience to the message of God have made her an exemplar for all ages of Christians. Out of the details supplied in the New Testament by the Gospels about the maid of Galilee, Christian piety and theology have constructed a picture of Mary that fulfills the prediction ascribed to her in the Magnificat (Luke 1:48): “Henceforth all generations will call me blessed.”

And Amen for us Anglicans, St. Mary the Virgin! And the Text of Micah 5: 2, is simply grand: “But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for Me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose origin is from old, from ancient of days.” (RSV)

“Christ Jesus” is both the salvation of Jew & Gentile!

      1. Too funny about the picture! Part Beach Blanket Bingo, part the famous Strong Man (forget his name) who always talked about going from 99 pound weakling to He-man. About what year was it? Were you in Royal Marines then?

      2. That pic is over 10 years years ago (if its the one I am thinking of?), we had been there for about three weeks as I remember? I had over ten years active (broken time), with the RMC’s, and the rest inactive reserve, but retired with just over 20. My last active service was in Gulf War 1. Though just after we spent some time with the Israeli commando’s, I used to para-jump (parachute). And we jumped in Israel (training).

*Again, my wife actually put that pic up! I guess one of her favorites? 😉 I have an open blog and computer with her, no secrets! She reads some of my stuff at times.
