Lament From London

A dying Church in England

The Church of England may be doomed, British commentator “Pageantmaster” writes, as it begins debate over the Pilling Report. Hampered by several generations of poor leadership, with bishops chosen for their ability to go along and get along, the Church of England may well surrender the fight in the battle with post-modern culture.

Pageantmaster, a UK-based church commentator well known to Anglican Ink, has penned an evaluation of the situation within the inner councils of the Church of England – and it is not a pretty sight.

  1. Those interested here, should perhaps read the whole original article! Of course “Pageantmaster” is a pseudonym, from one from, or beside Anglican Ink. But in all reality the CoE, save of course those who really are “walking in truth” (2 John 4, and thankfully there are a few!), are sadly.. as again part of the “many deceivers” (2 John 7) that are all just too apparent today, when we look squarely at the Holy Scripture. Note, the full Text of The Second Epistle (Letter) of John was quoted at the end. Would that we were more about looking at that Letter and its most important exegesis and revelatory explanation! Quite simply and yet profoundly the faithful church and congregation must withstand the forces and people who do not “abide” in the teaching of Christ! (2 John 9)…

“Everyone who goes ahead (beyond) and does not abide (remain) in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.”

Btw too, verses 10-11 are surely still quite in effect: “If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works.” Wow, the Anglican Communion has been so far from this obedience, and for many years, save a few of those like these John wrote to: “I rejoiced greatly to find SOME of your children walking in the truth, just as we were commanded by the Father.” (Verse 4) Indeed to welcome these is to somehow participate in such evil deeds, etc.!
