Exorcisms Via Skype?

So it would seem:

The age-old practice of exorcism is getting updated thanks to the use of modern technology by a reverend in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Reverend Bob Larson claims he has performed more than 20,000 exorcisms in the past four decades.

Now he is giving possessed people the option of having their demons banished from their bodies via Skype.

A 60-minute Skype exorcism costs $295, and is considered a tax-deductible donation to the International Missions Program.

Skype’s cheap rates allow Larson to connect with allegedly possessed people from all over the world, including one of his most recent clients, a Norwegian man named David, who supposedly had four demons inside him.

During one encounter filmed by, one of the demons mocked Larson by asking, “Are you Bob the Builder,” followed by a maniacal cackle straight out of the “Tales From The Crypt” TV show.

Larson has numerous exorcism videos on YouTube, including this one where he claims to exorcise a gay demon.

Some skeptics think the over-the-top antics by the allegedly possessed souls are a sign that it’s all just a show, but Larson denies those allegations.

“It’s real,” Larson told the station. “There would be no reason to theatrically stage this for any reason. Why would anybody do that? I have no idea.”

However, Larson’s Skype exorcisms are making other religious leaders cross.

Reverend Isaac Kramer, the director of the International Catholic Association of Exorcists, an organization that trains and ordains new exorcists, says exorcisms can’t be done over the Internet.

“If a person is fully possessed, the demon inside of them will not let them sit in front of the computer screen to be exorcised,” Kramer told “Chances are, they’re going to throw the computer screen across the room and destroy everything.”

Crazy stuff.

  1. Myself as a Protestant evangelical Anglican, this simply must be pressed thru Reformed and Reformational theology and divinity itself! The regenerate Christian that has been born from above, is profoundly Christ’s possession! (Romans 8: 9-10 ; 26-27…noting too verses 28-38). Sadly, not all those who name the name of Christ, or call Him Lord are actually regenerate, nor His! (Matt. 7: 21-23)

The great question comes then, how do I know that I am ‘In Christ’, and HIS possession? The real Christian lives between Romans 7: 13-25 and Romans 8: 1-3, as Luther, we believe following St. Paul, says: that the Christian is both a Sinner and Saint as ‘In Christ’.. in this life! But Christ Who in-dwells the believer is as Romans 8 teaches, has and is putting to death the flesh, at least winning the major battles of ‘the world, the flesh, and the devil.’ We should note here too both Gal. 5: 17 and 5: 24! A study of this whole section, starting with Gal. 5: 1, noting here too, verses 3-7! And quite ending here with verses 16-25.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Meekness, temperance (self-control) against such there is no law. And they that are of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof.” (Gal. 5: 23-24, RV)

Sadly too, we have in much of Christendom, simply just too many baptized pagans, i.e. people who have never really been regenerated or born again from above! Jesus said to make “disciples”…”Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you”! (Matt. 28: 20)

Btw, I simply don’t see any so-called believers being prayed for as to the release of demonic possession in the NT Letters! Perhaps St. Paul is the best example of any believer (and Paul was a great one, and an Apostle), who had demonic affliction (in his flesh)… “And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.” (2 Cor. 12: 7, seeing verses 8-9-10 also). Surely some of this was to measure and make the great Apostle to the Gentiles, himself! (Verse12)

But surely, all real Christians will know and feel the great affliction or tribulation/tribulations of being “Christ’s”! (Acts 14: 22 / 1 Thess. 3: 4 / Rev. 1: 9)

In closing, we should see and note that the so-called historical and visible church and churches were somewhat compromised early, when we look at the Letters to the Seven Churches of Asia Minor in the Book of Revelation! (Chapters 2-3) And the last Church and church-age, Laodicea, the Lord stands outside the Church and must knock! (Rev. 3: 20)

  2. what a ‘hype’ via Skype! If he were doing this for free – “give freely, as you have been freely given”, along with humility of heart and sincerity of purpose, there might be some ‘Hope for the hopeless’! and where is the ‘true Crucifix’?–there is no Corpus on his Cross?!
Christianity must be ‘Authentic’ if it is to be believable – even the demons know this!
